Cosby again attacks black youth embrace of educational gap

CHICAGO (AFP) — America's favourite on-screen father, actor Bill Cosby, has unleashed another volley at young US blacks' not only accepting but embracing what he says amounts to a damaging educational gap.

Addressing a conference Thursday, Cosby again attacked the fashion for curse words and slang that he contends makes some young blacks virtually unintelligible.

"I'm talking about profanity. I'm talking about people cursing at each other," Cosby told a largely African-American audience at a conference in Chicago.

The 66-year-old actor was returning to a theme that landed him in hot water when he first addressed it at a conference in Washington in May, and Cosby used this occasion to defuse some of that criticism.
