Marijuana seized after drug runners ram US police car

SAN DIEGO, United States (AFP) — Suitcases of marijuana were sezied from a modified jeep used by suspected drug runners who rammed a California Highway Patrol car before fleeing the scene, police said.

Police said seven suspects had fled from a white Chevrolet Suburban sports utility vehicle after it rammed an officer's car Wednesday night following a chase, five of the suspects have been caught.

Suitcases packed with some 700 pounds (317 kilograms) of marijuana were found inside the Suburban, according to California Highway Patrol spokesman Brian Pennings.
